Theterm”landmargin”asitisusedinlandeconomicsusuallyrefersto”arable”inaprivatelyownedfarm,th,thesemarginsincludehillslopesandbadlyerodedfields,,thecropchosenforthismarginallandwascitronella,awildperfumegrasswhichwasnowwidelyintroducedfororganizedcultivation.
Asisshownintable5,[7]Inprefectureranking,theresponseincropareaincreaseisclearlymores,dtoincreasemaybeinterpretedastheresultofagradualuseoflesssuitablelandmarginsforcitronellacultivation,wheretheverylowyieldofmarginalplantingpulleddowntheaveragecrophectareyield.
Presumably,thedecreaseincrophectareyiel,forexample,wherethetotalyieldin1949(5.)wasonlyafractionlowerthanthatin1950(www.youxs.org).,suggestingthattheyieldsfromincrementalcropareaweresolowthatoned,thereisalsothepossibilityofrandomfluctuationsowingtoweather,www.youxs.org(hectare),againconfirmstheverylowyieldofmarginalplantingowingtotheexhaustionofbetterinternallandmargins.
Totheextentthatthetotalyieldonthegiven(physical)landincreasedasaresultofincreasingcroparea(plantingrate),asisclearlythecasewhenwepare1948withanyofthefollowingthreeyears(table5),[8]theaverageproductoflandhadincreased(www.youxs.org).Thisimpliesthatthemarginalproductcurveofcultivatedlandalsoincreased,(cropareatimesthehectareyield)increasedsignificantlymoreinprefecturesofthehigherrankings(rankedaccordingtoproportionsoffarmsaffectedbythesharerestriction),themarginalproductofland,aswasclearlythecaseafter1949,themarginalyieldofincreasingtenantinputsincultivatingincrementalcrophectare(area)tareremainedconstantorincreased,theverylowyieldoftillingtheincrementalcropareaconfirmsthatthemargancewiththeirranking,theevidencealsoconfirmsthatthemarginalproductoffarmingresourcedfrommytheoryofsharetenancy.
